Top Tips when planning your Honeymoon

Destination

You may have your heart set on a certain destination. If you haven't already, do some research to decide if it does indeed live up to the picture you have of your dream honeymoon

Type of honeymoon

Have you always dreamed about your ideal honeymoon lying on a beach, sipping a cocktail, and staring at a gentle lapping turquoise sea but in reality you can't sit still for longer than it takes to watch an episode of Eastenders? The destination choice is a key decision when deciding on your honeymoon and can be one destination or a combination of destinations so think carefully about the memories you are trying to create during this special holiday.

Time of year

You may have a set date in mind for your honeymoon which means you will need to look for a destination that meets your criteria for that ideal experience at that time of year. If you have already decided on a destination then you will need to plan your honeymoon for the time of year that gives the best weather for the experience you are looking for.

Budget

This is a big decision and can be a difficult one. If you have dreamed of a honeymoon that may be stretching you financially there are options to use a service such as a honeymoon gift list to ask your wedding guests to contribute to your honeymoon rather than buy you gifts.

Passport information

It's really important to think about any name changes that may happen and if any passports will be changed before booking your honeymoon. Flights need to be booked in the name that will appear on the passports

Visas and Vaccinations

Will you need a visa, what is the visa process and how costly might it be. Does the destination require vaccinations and where and when will I get these done?

Resort special offers

Many resorts and hotels offer special room prices or extras when you are on honeymoon but you need to ask about them. They will usually ask you to produce a marriage certificate on arrival at the resort to prove you have recently got married

Travel insurance

This is a must when travelling and should be taken out when you book your honeymoon or any holiday. It will give you the peace of mind regarding cancellation, illness, or loss of luggage and valuables

Enlist the help of a travel consultant

Having a travel consultant assist you can take away the strain of planning your honeymoon, helping you to enjoy the experience and look forward to a wonderful time. Travel consultants have connections with suppliers and resorts to get you the perfect honeymoon. You will get advice regarding destinations, best times to travel, visas and vaccinations, and all the extra inside information about what you can do during your stay.
